The BMDD is proud of the industries that call Brownwood home and strive to provide all of our local companies with a trained and skilled workforce. Our community has built partnerships with our three institutions of higher education: Howard Payne University, Ranger College, and TSTC to help develop programs that will provide our workforce with the knowledge and skills needed to meet the needs of our employers. We have designed programs such as the 21st Century Leadership class that teaches high school students the soft skills needed to be successful in the workplace. The class focuses on preparing the students for their first job and teaches them about communication, punctuality and teamwork, among other things.
In partnership with the Brownwood Chamber of Commerce, the BMDD has also established a young professionals group that provides young people the opportunity to network and get to know others in the area in order to promote a good qualify of life for Brownwood's young adults.
The BMDD works with the Education Workforce Solutions Committe of Brown County, which is represented by a group of our major employers, higher education institutions, local school districts and community groups to identify the workforce needs and find solutions to meet those needs. This committee is a great example of how our community works together to provide our employers with quality employees for their companies.
