Brown County Ranger College Campus to Build Nursing Simulation Lab

Brownwood News – Thanks to a $188,706 grant from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board Ranger College can now offer its nursing students the same learning experiences as other schools in its service area.

“We are now going to be able to offer competitive scenarios that the other bigger schools offer,” said Ranger College Dean of Nursing Carolyn Zapata.

The grant will enable Ranger to build a nursing simulation lab at its Brown County Campus.

“This will give our students a chance to enhance their clinical experience. They will be able to reenact patient care in a total simulated learning environment,” Zapata said.

The entire lab consists of two hospital rooms with a control room in between for Zapata and her staff to monitor what is going on inside the room.

Students will be able to start using the lab this fall.
