Brownwood Regional Medical Center: Community Partner Report

Brownwood Regional Medical Center’s Commitment to Brownwood & Brown County Area Continues as Top Priority in Serving Community with Quality Care

Brownwood, TX - Brownwood Regional Medical Center’s  (BRMC) 560+ staff members touched over 167,000 lives this past year that positively impacted the well-being of the Brownwood and Brown County area as we continue to fulfill our commitment to serve the healthcare needs of the area.
In 2017, the hospital admitted almost 3,000 patients; in addition to that cared for almost 1,000 observation patients, had more than 135,000 outpatient visits and clinic visits, performed over 4,800 surgeries and delivered almost 600 babies. The Emergency Department alone received almost 23,000 patients who were urgently seeking care.
“We are proud to say that the Brownwood and Brown County area may continue to count on Brownwood Regional Medical Center for their healthcare services as they have done since 1969,” said Chip Camp, Chief Executive Officer of Brownwood Regional Medical Center. “We are friends and family caring for friends and family and our top priority is to provide every patient with quality, personalized care.”
Additionally, patients continually have access to more specialty services close to home including the Interventional Cardiology Program with 24/7 coverage through our emergency department and feel fortunate to have many success stories associated with the Cardiac program. We also welcomed Stephen Scoggin, MD General Surgeon to the BRMC Medical Staff.
To support and enhance services, BRMC has provided capital investments of slightly over $1.4 million in renovations and updates to the facility. We proudly have supported hometown businesses and have spent over $2 million locally.  The United Supermarket One Source Express Care Clinic continues to gain momentum in offering convenience of hours and accessibility with an increase in the number patients being seen on a daily basis.  One Source Express Care Clinic and Early One Source will soon offer the convenience of Clockwise which is an online reservation to be seen by a provider.
As BRMC continuously evaluates how to best respond to patient needs, it also gives back to the Brownwood and Brown County area. In 2017, BRMC provided over $17.6 million in charity and uncompensated and includes almost $900,000 in charity care to this area’s most in need residents. The hospital also leaves a sizable footprint paying over $1 million in property and business taxes, which in turn fund civic resources and services, along with over $35,000 given in donations and sponsorships to area clubs and organizations. We also paid labor costs that exceeded $41.6 million in 2017 that contributes to the local economy.
Caring for our community is important to our physicians, staff and volunteers and we have enjoyed working with numerous local non-profit and community organizations throughout the year.  As we care for our community, we look forward to the Annual Brown County Health Expo where we offer numerous health screenings at no charge. We are also committed to those ages 50 and over and take pride in offering programs such as Senior Circle that provides social activities along with health education programs throughout the year.
“All of this is possible through the skills and dedication of our employees, medical staff and volunteers,” said Chip Camp, CEO. “We thank them for their unwavering commitment which gives us a strong foundation for continued success.”
