Brownwood City Council ratified four Building Improvement Incentive Program (BIIP) grants Tuesday at the City Council meeting. The grant applications were previously approved at the Brownwood Municipal Development District (BMDD) Board meeting held Tuesday, October 20th.  

Mayor Stephen Haynes expressed excitement at the City Council meeting regarding the building improvements in the downtown area.

The Brownwood City Council gave final approvals Tuesday to move forward with the development of a multipurpose event center in downtown Brownwood.

Funding for the construction of the project will come entirely from economic development sales tax dollars that have been saved over the past few years for an impactful project, the City of Brownwood said in a press release.
