From Passion to Business

Rebecca Morelock, a beloved figure in Brownwood, TX, has been a staple of the community for over 20 years. With a background in baking that started when she was just seven, Rebecca turned her lifelong passion into a successful business. After selling baked goods from home in 2015, she created the popular Artisan Market, a gathering of local vendors that has grown to over 30 sellers since its inception. Rebecca's dream of opening a bakery came true in 2022 with the opening of Baked Artisan Goods in a building that holds personal significance to her. She and her family once lived in the apartment space which is now the bakery. The building itself has rich history, dating back to the early 1900s as a dry cleaning business with an original fur vault, also now part of the bakery.

Handcrafted Goodness

At Baked Artisan Goods, Rebecca and her team of skilled bakers prepare handmade pastries, breads, and sweets from scratch every week. Their menu features croissants, danishes, cakes, scones, cookies, and more, with the cruffins and cinnamon rolls being fan favorites. The bakery's commitment to quality means each item is made with precision, from croissants that take five days to prepare to sourdough bread that requires days of care and attention.

New Beginnings

Now, in an exciting new chapter, Baked Artisan Goods has expanded with a revamped retail space and street-side entrance on Fisk Avenue. The new setup offers more seating and a larger retail area for customers to enjoy their favorite baked goods, breakfast sandwiches, and soon, espresso drinks. Starting in the new year, the bakery will also serve lunch. Rebecca’s journey from a dream to a thriving business reflects her entrepreneurial spirit, and she encourages others to take risks and follow their passions.

BMDD Partnership

The bakery's expansion was made possible in part by a partnership with the Brownwood Municipal Development District's Business Improvement Incentive Program (BIIP). This program provided support that allowed Baked Artisan Goods to transition from a hidden haven to a vibrant storefront. The BIIP serves to revitalize and improve the appearance of Brownwood commercial buildings to positively impact the aesthetics, marketability by providing an incentive of up to $25,000.00 for approved improvements.
