Local organizations and educational institutions partner with businesses and entrepreneurs looking to start or expand their companies in Brownwood to provide workforce training and employee recruitment.

Texas State Technical College (TSTC) - Brownwood Campus

TSTC in Brownwood works with your business to assess your needs and develop customized training for employees. The college offers in-demand programs and courses, including Electrical Systems and Electrical Motor Control. Programs such as TSTC’s Industrial Systems training program keep Brownwood competitive in today’s market and support the area’s strong manufacturing presence.

Ranger College

Ranger College offers 12 programs and has three locations in Ranger, Stephenville, and Brownwood. Ranger College’s Brown County campus serves Brownwood and the surrounding areas. The college has a number of in-demand academic and workforce programs, including education, continuing education, licensed vocational nursing, associate degree nursing (RN), truck driving, and cosmetology.  

Ranger College in Erath County (Stephenville) was recently awarded two grants: a Jobs and Education for Texans (JET) grant to support career training along with a Skills Development Fund grant from the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC.)

Howard Payne University (HPU)

The Center for Career & Student Success at HPU is committed to providing effective employer connections with students at all levels, majors, and disciplines. The University works with businesses to meet their recruiting needs and strives to establish and cultivate meaningful relationships and lasting partnerships. HPU offers on-campus recruiting and posts career, internship, and volunteer opportunities.

Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas 

Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas provides reimbursement to employers who hire and train individuals referred and approved through the Workforce Solutions system. Customized and on-the-job training is available with up to 50% reimbursement of training costs/wage rates of the employee. Customized training is also available for current workers not earning a self-sufficient wage.

Small Business Development Center

Online and in-person training workshops, technical assistance, reference resources, and no-charge counseling services are available to small businesses and entrepreneurs through the Tarleton SBDC. From startups to expansions, the center’s professionals work with small businesses to assist in workforce training needs to promote growth, innovation, profitability, increased productivity, and improved management. The Tarleton SBDC is an outreach program of Northwest Texas SBDC.
